Thoughts

We got to know each other while working at Stone House, the patients loved you and knew where to go for a cigarette if they didn’t have any and and Jack always got a cigar. We moved next door but one to you and became good friends, we went to a few concerts together can remember seeing the Bee Gees and Barry Manilow with you. We used to walk most days with our dogs Jodie and Amble and if I was on holiday you looked after Jodie for me which she loved. As you became ill your life changed so much but you just accepted it and made the most of what you could do. Life was unfair to you because you didn’t deserve what you went through in the last few years but when I came round we could still have a laugh. In the last year with Covid I couldn’t see you so often but used to have a chat on the phone. I will miss our friendship, the laughs, the swearing when things didn’t go right but you are out of pain now. RIP xx

It’s true to say that we never hit it off to start with, after all I ‘stole’ your baby. Although I can honestly and happily say that our relationship and friendship grew and grew into something to treasure. We laughed and cried together and shared the good times as well as the bad. You became a wonderful mother-in-law and I’m thankful to you for sharing James with me. I’ll always remember the wonderful memories we have together and with your beautiful grandchildren. Harrison adored you and Freya will know all about you - we will make sure of it. Sleep tight my fellow Mrs Smith. xx

We know that Life is a journey with one destination, but the difference for each of us is made by the people we spend time with, and what we take along with us from those times. I remember Helen as someone whose warmth and kindness gave me comfort, friendship and support when our children were young. How well she played the piano and how we liked to laugh and talk. Helen always included me in family matters and get-togethers, and I shall always treasure those times; those years. Goodbye Helen. My love and thanks. Susan.
